Donald Trump: A genuine interest in improving minority communities or another attempt to fake BLM

Operation LeGend- An operation focusing heavily on minority communities with high crime rates while neglecting and refusing to address and remedy police brutality.

On July 22,2020 Donald Trump stated that “Today, I’m announcing a surge of federal law enforcement into American communities plagued by violent crime.  We’ll work every single day to restore public safety, protect our nation’s children, and bring violent perpetrators to justice.  We’ve been doing it, and you’ve been seeing what’s happening all around the country.  We’ve just started this process, and, frankly, we have no choice but to get involved.”

The Irony in those words.

“We’ll work everyday to restore public safety, protect our nation’s children, and bring violent perpetrators to justice.”

How can Donald Trump state that he will work every single day to restore public safety but refuse to acknowledge and attempt to remedy what’s causing the uprooting of public safety. Racism and police brutality are not new.

How can you protect the nation’s children when you have children in cages and children like Tamir Rice being gunned down and killed by police. Bad police officers show no remorse for black and brown children.

“Bring violent perpetrators to justice.” It’s mind blowing that everyone who commits violent crimes besides police officers are going to be brought to justice.

Donald Trump, what have you “been doing?” Besides causing more distress, violence, and inequality. One thing is true, we have been seeing what’s happening around the country and I think now more than ever more people are seeing how engulfed with racism and inequality the country is. We have also seen your poor response to the needs and demands of minorities during your term as president.

Donald Trump also stated “We’re also pleased to be joined by Americans who have tragically lost their loved ones to recent violence.  To each of you, please know that America grieves with you, that we pledge to honor the memory of your cherished loved ones by fighting to bring safety in every, single community.  We will bring that safety.  You will see.”

Donald Trump has no issue addressing those who have lost loved ones at the hands of their neighbors or community members due to the “recent violence,” but he needs to also address because if he meant the endless lives who have been lost at the hands of the police. Be Direct. America is grieving with the recent victims of racism and police brutality. However, it’s not about honoring their memory it’s about giving them justice, a memory honored with no justice means nothing at all. it is also not about memorializing those who have lost their lives due to senseless violence, step up and actually make changes to improve the environments in these neighborhoods.

Bring safety to communities by bridging the gap, restoring the trust between black citizens and police, and improving police relations within communities.

“For decades, politicians running many of our nation’s major cities have put the interests of criminals above the rights of law-abiding citizens.  These same politicians have now embraced the far-left movement to break up our police departments, causing violent crime in their cities to spiral — and I mean spiral seriously out of control.” -Donald Trump

In what area in the country do you know that puts the interest of “criminals” above the rights of those who follow laws. Im assuming he is referring to laws that don't reflect a “get tough” ideology.

You would naturally assume that the President of the United States would be aware that crime will always occur no matter what so to say that violent crime has spiraled as a result of the moment to dismantle the police is the cause is invalid. Police murdering citizens is different than the crime occurring in cities like Chicago, the city that is everyone’s response to discussions on police brutality.

The most hypocritical statement from Donald Trump’s speech is “Every American — no matter their income, their race, or their ZIP Code — should be able to walk their city streets free from violence and free from fear.”

Where is this energy when an individual is murdered at the hands of police or a racist want to be vigilante? When African Americans be able to walk the street free from police violence and free from fear?

As a result of the high volume of violent crime in Chicago, Donald Trump made the decision to extend Operation Legend to the city.

Operation Legend.

Operation Legend was created as a response to the killing of 4 year old LeGend Taliferro on July 29 in Kansas City.

As a result of the murder of the 4 year old, Attorney General William Barr made a commitment to send over 100 federal agents from the FBI, DEA, ATF, and U.S. Marshals to aid law enforcement. The first agents were to be dispatched to Kansas City.

William Barr assumed that the allocation would “combine federal and local resources to combat the disturbing uptick in violence by surging federal agents and other federal assets.”

It is important to note that Attorney General Barr has ties to ALEC, or American Legislative Exchange Council, which has ties to creating and advocating laws such as the stand your ground law which lead to the murder of Trayvon Martin.

Donald Trump on July 22nd made the decision to grant over $61 million in order to hire new police officers to facilitate Operation LeGend. His reasoning is that the goal is to make law enforcement stronger. The reality is that it doesn’t matter how many police officers you hire, unless you properly screen, train, and punish them when necessary there will always be distrust and a disconnect between the police and communities.

This is a direct quote from Donald Trump,”but opportunity cannot thrive where there is violence.  Prosperity cannot flourish where there is bloodshed.  And security cannot exist where there are violent criminals who are able to maim and murder with impunity.  That is what Operation LeGend is all about.  That is why we are here today to answer the pleas of those crying for justice and crying for help.  For those people in Chicago and other cities where we’ll be: Help is on its way.”

I would like to acknowledge that if done correctly and with the right goals and motives could be a good thing for areas riddled with crime.

I will say that “opportunity cannot thrive where there is violence.  Prosperity cannot flourish where there is bloodshed.  And security cannot exist where there are violent criminals who are able to maim and murder with impunity,” is a great quote because it is 100% true, however this logic needs to be applied in cases of innocent black individuals losing their lives as a result of hate by police offices and citizens on power trips.

Take the same energy that is being invested in cities like Chicago and reform the criminal justice system, dismantle systematic racism, abolish police brutally, and ensure justice for those who have lost their lives due to law enforcement.

Stop using high crime rates in cities as a crutch to make it appear that you care about black lives.
